In line with the iAS continued professional development (cdp) scheme, Stephen Grech , one of the directors of the architectural and structural engineering firm, has been awarded full member status with the Institute of Structural Engineers , UK. Stephen joins Peter Zammit, the other founding director of iAS, with this prestigious chartership amongst a limited number of chartered structural engineers worldwide. The road to membership status requires that the candidate displays proficiency in the field of structural engineering and construction management through acquiring sufficient academic qualifications and by fulfilling a list of varying competences in work practice. Qualification for a rigorous seven hour exam, which has an average international pass rate of only 33%, is only attained once the Institute and an interviewing panel is satisfied that with the technical capabilities and experience of the candidate. As part of the cpd schemes which iAS offers to their staff, the firm offers guidance to employees seeking to advance in structural engineering by agreeing a structured cpd which leads to MIStructE exam qualification. In addition, iAS offers guidance in their website www.ias.com.mt through publications of trial exam papers carried out by Peter ad Stephen in their preparation for the final exam. These schemes are in line with the iAS belief that investment in their people is the guarantee of service quality through using talented and technically competent professionals as the basis of their service. www.istructe.org |
